The Registered Nurse (RN) IIl is directly responsible and accountable to the Outpatient Department/Branch Manager for administering and supervising good nursing care in all outpatient departments; utilizing a systematic approach to nursing by assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, thus providing continuing health care to individuals, families and communities. The RN Ill typically works in departments such as Urgent Care, Oncology, and Ambulatory Surgery.
The RN Ill is responsible for the medical supervision of all other non-RN nursing personnel within the department worked, including, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified and Non-Certified Technicians, and Nurse Aides. (RN’s are not permitted by the Ohio Board of Nursing to medically supervise a Certified Medical Assistant.)
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Active nursing license recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing
• Current CPR certification.
• Have current/or obtain ACLS and/or BLS within ninety (90) days.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform nursing duties by assessing, through interviewing, observation and
• nursing procedures.
• Responsible for coordinating and assisting with the best possible patient flow
• within the department.
• Ensure availability and proper maintenance of all nursing and emergency
• supplies used throughout the outpatient departments.
• Be a nursing leader by demonstrating the ability to take charge in any situation.
• Assist in orientation of new employees.
• Stay current in nursing skills in the applicable field of nursing to enhance decision
• making and promote understanding for patients, families and other nursing
• personnel.
• Promote good public relations and good outpatient interdepartmental relations between nursing and other outpatient departments including branches.
• Responsible for promoting the Customer Service Standards in outpatient departments.
