Behavioral Health Technician - Addictions Detox
Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician, Detox, is responsible for the support and monitoring of patients while in the program and assisting with service coordination as needed. He/she will maintain close communication with clinical staff, nursing staff, and administration to ensure that patients at Hygea Healthcare receive the most comprehensive care to address the issues that may impede their recovery.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
- Responsible for welcoming new patients, assisting with orientation of program, schedule, and rules.
- Attends to client behavioral problems and provides assistance in crisis intervention, as needed.
- Observes and manages urine drug testing and breathalyzer screening.
- Completes rounds and security checks.
- Conducts room and person searches.
- Maintains confidentiality of client records.
- Assists in monitoring and managing the patient community as a therapeutic milieu.
- Maintains established institutional policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
- May provide liaison with patients, families of patients, or external facilities and agencies.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associates degree in mental health or addiction treatment setting preferred)
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR preferred.
- Training in motivational interviewing a plus.
- Training in Trauma Informed Care a plus.
- Knowledge and ability to learn electronic record software and technology platforms.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of community resources.
