As the Physician Liaison, you will provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with internal staff, external medical facilities, and patients. This role involves educating stakeholders about the Department of Energy Employees Occupational Illness (DEEOIC) program, advocating for patients to receive their entitled benefits, and ensuring strict confidentiality of patient information. Additionally, the Physician Liaison coordinates effectively with various parties, navigates the Home Health Care (HHC) approval process, and assists in connecting patients with supportive medical providers.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service and cultivate harmonious relationships with internal staff, external medical facilities, and patients
- Educate healthcare providers and patients about the DEEOIC program and provide essential facts pertaining to benefits
- Advocate tirelessly on behalf of patients to ensure they receive their entitled DEEOIC benefits.
- Safeguard sensitive and private patient information, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and legal requirements
- Coordinate effectively with internal staff, Authorized Representatives (AR), and external medical facilities within specified deadlines
- Navigate the consequential/causation process to obtain timely approval for HHC services
- Assist patients, internal staff, and AR in navigating supportive medical providers, facilitating access to necessary healthcare resources and benefits
Job Qualifications
- Experience in a healthcare setting such as sales, patient advocacy, physician liaison, or healthcare administration is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software is required
- Ability to travel to events and meetings within the market area
- Key competencies include customer focus, advocacy, teamwork, communication skills both written and verbal, problem solving, adaptability, critical thinking, and empathy
- Familiarity with healthcare programs and benefits, particularly the DEEOIC program is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or related field is a plus
