Hygea Healthcare is hiring! We are launching a new IOP program at our Belair Road location and are looking for a substance use counselor to lead our program. This position will start part-time (20 hours) with the potential to grow into a full time position.
Job Summary
The Substance Use Disorder Counselor's role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. The SUD Counselor will provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to assist recovering individuals in preventing relapse and promoting long-term recovery. The SUD counselor will use an outcomes-based approach and evidenced-based practices to achieve results.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
- Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external Hygea Healthcare treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
- Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to help.
- Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
- Assist clients to meet all requirements of their care and maintain an update and individualized treatment plan for each client.
- Use evidence-based practices to meet the clinical needs of each client.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment program and communicate needs, progress, and barriers.
- Participate in agency and community committees.
- Provide education by presentation or workshops to clients, families, or the community at large.
- Consistently follow agency requirements for documentation completion to insure timely filing for billing and regulatory compliance.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services or Addictions. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field with two or more years in an AOD or mental health setting preferred.
- Licensed or Certified as a SUD Counselor: CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LCADC, LCPC, LCSW.
- Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education • Understanding and supportive of a trauma-informed system of care
- Strong interpersonal and engagement skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills required; experience with EMR system a plus
- Ability to support the agency's mission and philosophy, and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and workplace harmony
- Value for and ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Must be self-directed to complete tasks.
