Position Responsibilities:
Our client is seeking a seasoned leader to head their electrical engineering function. This leadership role focuses equally on technical excellence and team development. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring engineers across experience levels, building a collaborative, high-performance culture, and ensuring that electrical projects are delivered with precision. This position requires a leader who excels in people management, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives, while aligning the team's output with broader business objectives.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide coaching, feedback, and career guidance.
- Drive team development by fostering a culture centered around accountability, improvement, and growth.
- Provide oversight from initial design through commissioning of complex electrical systems.
- Manage recruitment, performance reviews, and team capacity planning.
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and project management teams to deliver integrated project outcomes.
- Create and maintain departmental standards and best practices for documentation, design quality, and execution.
- Lead operational initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, managing costs, and optimizing quality.
- Participate in project planning efforts, including budgeting, scheduling, and scope control.
- Offer high-level input on system design, architecture, and engineering toolsets while empowering the team to make sound technical decisions.
- Provide support during field installation, startup, and system troubleshooting.
- Serve as an advocate for the department, helping to secure resources and remove roadblocks.
Position requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or current U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder).
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required; Master's degree preferred.
- 14–19 years of electrical controls experience with a bachelor's degree, or 12–17 years with a master's degree.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing electrical engineering teams within a project-driven environment.
- Strong leadership background with a focus on mentorship, team building, and career development.
- Proficiency in conducting performance assessments and crafting growth plans tailored to individual contributors.
- Proven ability to build and maintain a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Track record of working across departments to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
- Experience monitoring team morale and taking proactive steps to maintain engagement and reduce burnout.
- Skilled in hiring strategies, onboarding practices, and employee retention methods.
- Ability to communicate team priorities and advocate effectively with senior leadership.
- Familiarity with succession planning and technical workforce continuity strategies.
- Experience managing projects using advanced scheduling tools and methodologies.
- Ability to identify and resolve organizational bottlenecks, while reinforcing smooth interdepartmental workflows.

The pay range for this role is:130,000 - 170,000 USD per year(Minneapolis, Minnesota)
