Position Summary:
The Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing a range of health and wellness programs in a cost-effective manner; ensuring compliance of programs; generating necessary reports in a timely manner; facilitating collaborative relationship within MCHS, the community, and other agencies and institutions.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
Holds a current Texas license as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.
Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) a plus.
B. Training and Experience:
Current BLS through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in nursing with direct patient contact. Emphasis on family practice and/or chronic disease management desirable. Experience in dealing with commercial health insurers, health maintenance organizations (HMO’s), preferred provider organizations (PPO’s), and other segments of the “managed care” community would be a plus. Medical bill auditing, familiarity with CPT and ICD, the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) diagnostic related group system and/or relative value system would be helpful.
Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire.

C. Job Knowledge:
Ability to type own correspondence and to utilize personal computer is required as this position does not include clerical or secretarial support. Must be able to draft grammatically correct correspondence and to communicate effectively in writing, by phone and in person. Must be able to communicate concepts and information one-on-one, in small groups and to large audiences using visual aides. Must be able to take a lead role in patient and community health education.
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to infectious diseases.
