Job Purpose
The Equipment Technician position will collaborate with the Manufacturing Team as the subject matter expert regarding assembly processes and procedures as well as inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting quality issues. Work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. Assemblers can perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of them rather than permanently being assigned to a specific task.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude always.
•Train new employees in assembly for all product lines as well as identify training needs for existing employees.
•Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot quality issues; repair or implement corrective actions.
•Communicate quality concerns and production levels to management.
•Audit processes.
•Practice and implement 5S principles.
•Utilize and apply lean manufacturing methods.
•Record, maintain, and analyze testing, defects, and audit data.
•Implement and maintain statistical process control activities.
•Perform quality checks by inspecting parts, subassemblies, tools, equipment, packaging components, and finished products per engineering blueprints.
•Provide documentation regarding all assembly issues regarding efficiency, assembly flow, assembly instructions, BOM updates, etc.
•Write and update inspection and testing procedures.
•Continual learning and implementation of quality and industry best practices.
•Be a team member or leader of continual improvement projects and activities as assigned.
•Read and interpret prints and operating instructions to ensure efficient operations.
•Assist engineering as an assembly subject matter expert for new/modified projects.
•Review work orders to ensure work is performed according to specifications.
•Perform work according to standardized work procedures.
•Assemble a variety of different components into assemblies (pumps, motors, hoses, valves, gauges, fittings, screws, connectors, etc.)
•Use a variety of tools to perform work (wrenches, air tools, vise, screwdrivers, electric drills, impacts).
•Rotate through all the tasks required in a particular production process.
•Clean work areas.
•Perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
•Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, radius gages, thread gages, etc.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED required.
•2 - 5 years of manufacturing experience required.
•2 + years of QA / QC experience preferred.
•Proficient experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook required.
•Statistical Process Control (SPC), internal auditing, and continual improvement project experience preferred.
