JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA)
DEPARTMENT(S): Physician Clinic – General Surgery (may float to OB-GYN/ Internal Medicine/Basin Clinic)
REPORTS TO: Clinical Nursing Director or Physician Clinics Director
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing high quality care to patients in a safe, efficient and courteous manner, using proper procedures. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned shift. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Either a Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Wyoming licensure as a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse OR a Medical Assistant (certified preferred).
EXPERIENCE
Prefer at least 2 years of experience in an outpatient care area.
SKILLS
- Communicate effectively with personnel and interact effectively with a wide variety of patients.
- Able to take pertinent, concise history.
- Ability to verbally present information and ideas.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of medical/legal considerations
- Experience in understanding, and usage of computers as well as ability to learn applications.
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Able to serve as an example to other employees.
- As an RN or LPN:
- Knowledge regarding aseptic technique, up-to-date on currently used drugs, their actions, and side effects.
- Up-to-date IV therapy-venipuncture ability (LPN authorized only if IV-certified with State of Wyoming).
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
BLS (AHA) required.
