Position Overview:
Promesa Academy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Technician - Custodial and Maintenance to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of our school building and grounds. This individual will serve as both a custodian and a building maintenance worker, playing a crucial role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Custodial Duties
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper waste disposal.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and occasional waxing or buffing.
- Restock restroom supplies and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.
- Set up and break down spaces for events, meetings, and special activities as needed.
Building Maintenance Duties
- Perform routine inspections and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and facilities remain in good working condition.
- Address maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist in ensuring school grounds, parking lots, and playgrounds are safe and well-maintained.
- Collaborate with external vendors and contractors when specialized repairs or services are needed.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor the building for any potential safety hazards and report or resolve them promptly.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Assist in emergency response situations, including fire drills and weather-related incidents.
Other Duties
- Secure the building by locking doors and setting alarms as required.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Support school leadership in ensuring the facility is always in excellent condition.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in custodial services, facility maintenance, or related fields preferred.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
- Ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment and tools effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for school events.
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
