POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is located at our Yonge Eglinton Centre office. The prospective position will report to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety and Emergency Management and assist in administering the corporate health and safety program. Key areas of focus include disability management and accessibility. Additionally, the role will support emergency management and security coordination as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as the first point-of-contact for health and safety inquiries and incidents; provides guidance to stakeholders on matters and escalates where appropriate;
- Assists with the creation and maintenance of health and safety guidelines/manuals ensuring they are effectively communicated to all levels of management, employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and trades contractors;
- Coordinates health and safety programs along with related processes, procedures, and resources;
- Organize, guide, and support the Joint Health & Safety Committees and Health & Safety Worker Representatives across Canada;
- Oversee the WSIB disability management program, including returns to work;
- Administration of the accessibility program for the Property Management team;
- Assisting Property Management teams with reviewing insurance risk reports;
- Managing the annual Health and Safety Survey process;
- Act as platform administrator for existing programs (Refined Data, ServiceNow, Secure App);
- Manage vendor relationships, including processing all related invoices and service agreements;
- Supports the creation and coordination of related in-house training content and programs (virtual and in person);
- Leads and participates in workplace inspections, audits, and investigations of safety concerns, incidents, and accidents;
- Carrying out accident investigations on site and produces subsequent reports and recommendations.
- Supports Property Management teams with monthly health and safety inspections;
- General filing and maintenance of files;
- Create memos and other internal communication;
- Support the Health and Safety team with analytical and reporting work, including completing submissions for internal and external surveys and assessments (e.g. GRESB, BOMA);
- A role model for promoting a positive health and safety culture across the organization;
- Frequent travel required within the GTA, with occasional travel within Canada;
- Other duties/projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University Degree / College Diploma in a relevant field;
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience;
- Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety preferred;
- Certificate in JHSC Part 1 and Part 2 preferred;
- Thorough understanding of health and safety regulatory requirements, emergency management, WHMIS legislation, and accessibility legislation in Canada;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills (both oral and written);
- Ability to read and interpret complex materials;
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, under pressure, and meet strict deadlines;
- Experience using data management software (Refined Data) and Yardi is an asset.
