Position Summary
As a Patient Service Specialist / Certified Medical Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of our care team, supporting both administrative and clinical functions to ensure a seamless experience for the residents we serve. Working closely with primary care providers, you'll help manage day-to-day patient interactions and clinical support needs—always striving to exceed expectations and deliver quality care in line with state guidelines and the CMA scope of practice.
Essential Functions
- Patient Interaction & Office Support
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, both in person and on the phone
- Schedule appointments efficiently and notify providers of patient arrivals
- Collect and verify patient information, insurance, and co-payments
- Support the front office with clerical tasks such as answering phones, tracking referrals, and maintaining supply inventory
- Clinical Duties
- Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, etc.)
- Assist with exams, procedures, and patient comfort during visits
- Document patient care accurately in the EMR
- Perform point-of-care testing, venipuncture, and collect lab specimens as needed
- Care Coordination
- Ensure lab and diagnostic test results are tracked and reported to providers
- Prepare patient charts for upcoming visits by reviewing and updating records
- Assist with phone triage using approved protocols to gather symptoms and relay concerns appropriately
- General Expectations
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- High School Degree or GED
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active Medical Assisting Certification (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire)
- Experience:
- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
- Skills & Abilities:
- Dependable team member
- Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
