Pay Range: $30.32 - $45.49 / hour

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides nursing care for patients utilizing the nursing process including assessment, planning, education, and evaluation. Maintains standards of professional nursing practice. Documents complete and accurate patient information in compliance with Department policy and regulatory agency requirements. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. At least one year of professional nursing experience preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current RN licensure from the State of Illinois. Bi-annual CPR certification.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Good interpersonal, organizational, and critical decision-making skills required. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate, and concerned manner. Willingness to accept responsibility and leadership skills essential. Computer experience required. Performs RN specific functions pertaining to individual practice specialty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Greets patient and prepares them for physical examination or screening. Obtains patient history. Provides teaching and instructions. Collects specimens as per order. Uses critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
Provides general nursing care, assists the physician during exams and administers prescribed medications and or treatments.
Observes, records and reports patient’s condition, test results and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician according to department standards and maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.
Arranges for patient tests and admission giving preference to emergency cases. Procures the necessary referral and prior authorizations. Schedules patient appointments.
Prepares and processes instruments for sterilization according to established policies. Orders medications as per physician protocol and standing orders.
Maintains the Epic in baskets and work lists including referral lists and clinic follow-up lists: test results, referrals, overdue results, and patient calls.
