Senior Web Developer
Position Summary
The Senior Web Developer is responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing Kootenai Health websites, working closely with ad agencies and internal teams to ensure a seamless, responsive, and user-friendly digital experience.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Kootenai Health’s internal teams and external ad agencies to understand the vision and goals for new and existing websites
- Leads the development and implementation of KH websites using PHP and other relevant technologies
- Ensures websites are responsive, fast, and optimized for various devices and browsers
- Works with designers to turn creative concepts into functional web pages that align with brand and user experience requirements
- Customizes, builds, and integrates content management systems (CMS)
- Troubleshoots, tests, and optimizes website performance to ensure a smooth and engaging user experience
- Implements and maintains security features to safeguard the website and user data
- Stays current with the latest trends and technologies in web development to ensure the website remains modern, efficient, and secure
- Provides ongoing website maintenance, including updates, troubleshooting, and bug fixes
- Ensures search engine optimization (SEO) best practices are incorporated into the site’s structure and functionality
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing and IT, to support digital marketing and analytics efforts
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field required; 4 years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in web development with strong proficiency in PHP and WordPress required in addition to education requirement
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Responsive Design, and other web development technologies required
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex web issues required
- Experience with version control tools, such as Git, required
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment required
- Experience with Craft CMS or similar content management systems preferred
- Familiarity with front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, etc.) preferred
- Knowledge of web performance optimization, security best practices, and SEO preferred
- Experience working in the healthcare industry or on healthcare-related websites preferred
- Familiarity with cloud hosting platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.) preferred
- Understanding of UX/UI design principles preferred
