The Project Engineer provides leadership and guidance for single discipline (electrical) and/or short duration projects and works to support the Project Manager on larger, multi-discipline projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for working with the project manager and the client to identify business and technical requirements for the project, then establishing a project scope with associated plan and schedule to meet the project requirements.
The Project Engineer adheres to Nexus principles, policies and project guidelines, is responsible for meeting budgets and timelines, leading project reporting, and collaborating with both the internal Nexus team and the client to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities
- Establishing a safety culture for the project team.
- Implementing company policies and procedures.
- Working with the project manager and project team to review the project proposal and establish the schedule, work plan, budget, and procedures for accomplishing project, along with the staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
- Reviewing bid packages prior to distribution and reviewing proposals prior to submission to the client.
- Planning and coordinating all activities and resources on assigned project(s).
- Recommending project personnel transactions (hiring, transfers, wages, etc.) purchase requisitions, change requests, etc. in collaboration with the project manager.
- Managing financial aspects of the project including fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses, etc. to protect company’s interests and simultaneously maintain good relationship with client.
- Continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and honing skills and competencies to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in a consulting organization
- PMP Certification (a plus but not required)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Business understanding and demonstrated capability to manage business challenges
- Deep understanding of process and personal safety
- Understanding of risk and risk management techniques
