Job Description:
Assist in the preparation of Histology specimens for gross examination, including transportation, receiving, accessioning specimens into the Histology computer system, and evaluation of specimen integrity. Inform immediate supervisor of unacceptable or questionable specimens. Assist pathologist with gross examination of specimens.
Required Skills:
1. Familiar with keyboard and CRT use.
2. Effective oral and written communication skills
3. Knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
4. Knowledge of Anatomy.
5. Customer service orientated.
Required Experience:
A. Work Experience
One year of hands on experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting required, six months experience as a histology assistant, preferred.
B. License/Registration/Certification
Certificate of Completion as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist preferred.
C. Education and Training:
High School diploma or equivalent.
