Art Coordinator, Pottery Studio Technician
Sunshine Studios and affiliate of Sunshine Communities is looking for someone seeking a part-time position with experience and a passion for ceramics.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should bring a desire to work within a team environment and have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, volunteers, and artists
- 2 plus years of experience with ceramics
- 2 years of experience loading, unloading and firing with electric kilns
- Ability or experience using pottery studio equipment
- Ability to work on your own and with a team
- Flexible work schedule with evening and weekend availability

- While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk and hear
- Employee may be required to climb, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend
- 18 years of age or older

Responsibilities: under the supervision of the Studio Manager
- This position will include primarily afternoon, evening, and weekend hours, and hours will vary depending on program needs
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet the needs of the studio is needed
- A typical week is 15-20 hours
- Load/unload, fire, and maintain multiple electric kilns
- Maintain kiln firing schedule for large amounts of clay projects from multiple classes and turn around in a timely manner
- Prepare and maintain glazes, slips, and underglazes
- Maintain all pottery studio equipment to include wheels, kilns, pug mill, slab roller, and extruder
- Coordinate pick up area for finished artwork
- Maintain and communicate studio safety protocol
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio space
- Maintain reclaimed clay supply
- Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
