Art Coordinator, Pottery Studio Technician

Sunshine Studios and affiliate of Sunshine Communities is looking for someone seeking a part-time position with experience and a passion for ceramics.

Qualifications:

Candidates should bring a desire to work within a team environment and have the ability to communicate effectively with other team members, volunteers, and artists
2 plus years of experience with ceramics
2 years of experience loading, unloading and firing with electric kilns
Ability or experience using pottery studio equipment
Ability to work on your own and with a team
Flexible work schedule with evening and weekend availability

Employee may be required to climb, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend

Responsibilities: under the supervision of the Studio Manager

This position will include primarily afternoon, evening, and weekend hours, and hours will vary depending on program needs
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet the needs of the studio is needed
A typical week is 15-20 hours
Load/unload, fire, and maintain multiple electric kilns
Maintain kiln firing schedule for large amounts of clay projects from multiple classes and turn around in a timely manner
Prepare and maintain glazes, slips, and underglazes
Maintain all pottery studio equipment to include wheels, kilns, pug mill, slab roller, and extruder
Coordinate pick up area for finished artwork
Maintain and communicate studio safety protocol
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio space
Maintain reclaimed clay supply
Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
