Tired of restaurant hours? Looking for a new opportunity to channel your culinary talent and skills? We're looking for hard-working and passionate team members to work with Chef Rick Bayless on their new team at CookUnity, a high volume at home meal replacement company with a commissary kitchen in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals. This includes, but not limited to cleaning, prepping and cooking vegetables, portioning and cooking proteins and preparing sauces.
- Minimize food waste to prevent overproduction of menu items.
- Take inventory and FIFO ingredients
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients, tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and workspace by sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and tools, organizing storage areas, etc.
- Label and stock all ingredients so they can be stored and organized properly and easily accessible according to health code.
- Ensure the quality of food production in line with standard recipes.
Job Qualifications:
- High volume experience and banquets a plus!
- Proficiency in knife skills and kitchen equipment while maintaining a clean and safe restaurant
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures
- Ability to follow recipes precisely
- Training & certifications based on city/state requirements
Physical Functions:
- Ability to stand/walk an extended period of time per day
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Will frequently reach, bend, stoop, carry, and key in data
- Work in both warm and cool environments
- Ability to function in a high level of noise from music, guests, and kitchen environment
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
- Expectation to work each culinary position and fill in as needed.
- The anticipated work week will be thirty-five to forty hours per week.
