Overview: Disability Law Group seeks a creative, motivated part-time Social Media Intern to support its online presence. This local internship (~10–15 hours/week, with an option for full-time work during the summer) will assist the marketing team in growing the firm's social media channels and producing multimedia content.
Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Create and schedule engaging posts for DLG's social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok). Write copy, design graphics, and edit video content (adding music overlays) to support firm branding.
- Trend Research: Stay current on social media trends and best practices. Suggest creative ideas (viral challenges, hashtags, short-video formats) to boost followers and engagement.
- Video & Media: Film and edit short video clips for platforms (e.g., explainers, attorney intros, client stories), ensuring concise, branded output. Add music, captions, and optimize videos for each platform.
- Analytics: Monitor and report basic social media metrics (followers, likes, shares, engagement rates) using platform analytics. Identify high-performing content and recommend improvements.
- Community Engagement: Respond to social media comments or messages under guidance. Flag any potential client inquiries and inform the marketing team. Attending events to capture content to demonstrate ability to create engagement, likes, following, etc, on social media.
- Collaboration: Work under the Marketing Director to align social content with marketing campaigns. Attend team meetings and contribute ideas to social strategy.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Proficient with major social media platforms and content tools (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Canva, video editors).
- Strong video editing skills and ability to add overlays/music (e.g., via iMovie, Premiere Pro, or mobile apps).
- Basic understanding of social media analytics; able to use insights to improve content.
- Creative, proactive, and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Location: Based in Metro Detroit (for occasional in-office work); available ~10–15 hours/week (fall/spring) and able to work full-time in summer.
Internship Structure: We offer two internship pathways:
- Mentorship Internship: Flexible, experience-focused program (ideal for recent grads) with one-on-one coaching by the Marketing Director and exposure to various marketing projects.
- Potential Credit-Eligible Internship: For students seeking academic credit. Requires pre-approval by the student's school. Disability Law Group is open to coordinating with the institution and will develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure eligibility and compliance.
Compensation: Recommended hourly rate: $18–$21/hour, competitive with local internship benchmarks.
