GENERAL SUMMARY
-
Under direct departmental supervision, and following established policies, procedures and regulations assists with or performs various technical procedures or drug preparation, maintenance or exams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Performs daily operational duties under the direction of the pharmacy supervisor/manager.

Follows department policies, procedures, and best practices for pharmacy operations.
-
Communicates with hospital and clinical staff as necessary to facilitate care.
-
Participates in inventory management.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
-
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Must be enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy School Program.

Requires basic interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with a variety of departmental and hospital personnel when obtaining and/or replenishing medications.

Requires skills necessary to verify medication information with computer records, and appropriate documentation associated with medications.
-
Knowledge of typewriter/computer terminal keyboard required.
-
Requires registration with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern.
