GENERAL SUMMARY:
Schedules staff, ensures time card accuracy, oversees training and clinically supervises diagnostic and mammography staff. Evaluates exam protocols and equipment. Provides instructions for exam/procedures. Performs both diagnostic and mammography imaging procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray and mammographic technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients through the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. Provides input into staff job performance and competency evaluations; monitors clinical performance, provides guidance and constructively influences positive staff morale. Reports deficiencies to Radiology Manager.
3. Works with managers to complete process improvement activities (i.e. performs quality monitoring and data gathering, designs and manages workflow processes, researches regulations, and develops staff orientation and training tools).
4. *Coordinates and designs diagnostic and mammography staff work schedules at multiple locations to ensure appropriate coverage, assigns duties to staff to maintain quality patient care and patient flow to ensure appropriate coverage and achieve production goals; reviews and edits time cards.
5. Facilitates and demonstrates new techniques involving equipment and procedures for staff.
6. *Performs all types of studies to include diagnostic, mammography, and breast interventional procedures; practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
7. *Provides guidance and training to the support staff and department RNs for department mammography computer systems, Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requirements and the EPIC mammography module.
8. *Ensures all state and federal regulatory requirements for both diagnostic procedures and mammography are met and mammography accreditation (American College of Radiology) requirements are followed. Ensures proper documentation for regulatory and accreditation requirements.
9. *Coordinates and oversees the Medical Physicist requirements for all mammography equipment and radiologist reading stations. Maintains the integrity of the mammography acquisition/reading station server.
10. *Works with the Radiologist and Radiology Manager to evaluate images for American College of Radiology (ACR) submission for accreditation and technical quality.
11. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors and implements imaging procedures for patients of all ages.
12. *Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff.
13. Performs routine quality assurance at required times (daily, monthly, annually). Responsible for lead apron integrity checks.
14. *Competently operates all diagnostic and mammography equipment and support systems to include EPIC and PACS and provides support to staff for equipment and computer systems.
15. Works with EPIC educators to follow up on training needs for department staff.
16. Utilizes department computer systems and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies; maintains patient confidentiality.
17. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
18. Coordinates the department's quality improvement plan as required; coordinates and maintains quality assurance and daily work activities; assists in the future planning of outpatient diagnostic and women’s services. Reports QA initiatives at the radiation safety meeting.
19. Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies Radiology Manager of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
20. Works collaboratively with departments in setting up new products, ordering supplies and assisting with stocking. Keeps work areas properly supplied.
21. Advances work knowledge by participating in continuing education in services, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities; attends departmental, educational and hospital committee meetings as required.
22. Participates in student clinical education and coordinates department orientation for new employees.
23. Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
24. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of radiographic and mammographic positioning, use of technical factors, and radiation safety practices.
2. Knowledge of non-invasive and invasive procedures.
3. Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal and state regulatory requirements as related to radiography and mammography.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a school of radiologic technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists required. Certification by the ARRT in mammography required. Current Medical Radiographer licensure
from the State of Nebraska required. Minimum five (5) years of combined experience providing direct patient care in
Mammography and Radiology. Meets all MQSA requirements.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
