The Group Leader will work with Site Coordinator and other School Age Child Care/OST Staff to ensure the daily operation of their assigned group. The School Age Program will have a team of staff members at the site that will provide care to 30-100+ children from their local community. Group Leaders will be responsible for supervision and care of children in grades K- 8. They will be responsible for planning daily activities, snack, and homework help. Group Leaders must be professional and committed to represent Catholic Charities in a manner that aligns with the mission and goals of our organization.
SHIFT: Monday through Friday 10:00 am-6:00 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and conduct daily enrichment activities for children, i.e. homework help, physical activities, arts & crafts projects, group work, and various other activities determined by staffResponsible for preparing/serving healthy snacksProvide documented lesson plans for all activitiesMonitor children's progress and needs as appropriateDevelop and maintain a safe and supportive environment that responds to and supports the needs of each childPositive communication with parents on daily basisPositive role model, high energy, and good communication skillsFollow through with all Agency directives, and assigned tasks and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticismModel the CCAB mission statement to "respect the dignity of all people"Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hoursMeet EEC requirements for professional development hours completed each year, and enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core CompetencyHave a plan for his/her own professional development (tPDP), staying current in the field by attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature, and/or taking courses leading to a certificate or a degreeDemonstrate willingness to work with colleagues as a team player.Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including confidentiality, to children, families, colleagues, the Agency and the community.Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood, and the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, or Associate Degree Must have at least one year demonstrated experience working with school age children.Minimum age of 18.Knowledge of Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Regulations, subsidy care, and Best Practices and quality standards in OST preferred http://www.mass.gov/edu/docs/eec/licensing/regulations/reg-group-school-age-only.pdExcellent communication skills WITH school administration, parents, staff & children).Experience working with diverse /children/youth and families between the ages of 5.13 years of agePass background record check (CORI/SORl/DCF), fingerprinting and three reference checks.Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention, CPR; First Aid, Medication Administration
