What You’ll Do
As an Cook, you are under general supervision of the Chef Manager, prepares and cooks food for Hospital patients, staff members and for hospital catered events and meetings.
Cook Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food for patients, staff, and catered events in accordance with production schedules, menus, and quality standards.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, food safety guidelines, and sanitation procedures to ensure safe and high-quality meal preparation.
- Perform food preparation for a variety of service areas, including entrée, breakfast, cafeteria, grill, soup, and vegetable stations.
- Plan and prepare ingredients in advance to support efficient meal service and minimize food waste.
- Deliver prepared food to designated service areas in a timely manner to meet operational and customer needs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment through proper food handling, storage, and equipment use.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply shortages, equipment concerns, and operational needs to leadership.
- Complete production records accurately and support departmental quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and exceptional customer service.
- Maintain knowledge of food safety regulations and complete required Serve Safe Food Handling training.
- Participate in departmental meetings, required education, and special projects as assigned.
- Adhere to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, workplace safety standards, and scheduling flexibility, including overtime as needed.
What You Bring
As a Cook, this position requires strong communication skills to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and to read and write legibly. The individual must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and safely work in a fast-paced food service environment, including around hot cooking surfaces and food prepared in hot oil. Success in this role also depends on excellent interpersonal and hospitality skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and provide friendly, courteous service that creates a positive experience for the public.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
- A minimum of one year experience in a hospital, institutional or restaurant cooking environment is preferred.
