Anesthesia TechnicianJob Summary
Under the supervision of licensed personnel, provides assistance to the Anesthesiologist during the preoperative period according to the Shannon Medical Center Standards of Care, policies and procedures. The Anesthesia Aide has both team member and patient care responsibilities that require judgments, accountability and follow through. Within these responsibilities, accepting delegation, communicating effectively and confidentiality, recording accurate information, demonstrating flexibility and maintaining a safe environment by completing unit related services are critical to issues in this position.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Assists with General anesthesia, Regional anesthesia or other invasive procedures as directed by the anesthesiologist; demonstrates knowledge of normal drug dosages, actions and interactions with other drugs, side effects and routes of administration; checks schedule and sets up appropriate equipment for surgical procedures; maintains anesthesia equipment in good working order.
- Assesses anesthesia needs regarding supplies and equipment and provides input into budget preparation; notifies Schedule Coordinator or Unit Manager of any problems with equipment or availability of supplies; cleans and processes laryngoscope blades, LMAs and flexible endoscopes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
