Nursing students enrolled at WKU may apply for available scholarship slots from the Med Center Health Endowed Scholarship Fund. Nursing students who accept scholarships must agree to work for Med Center Health following graduation and completion of all requirements for obtaining nursing licensure for a minimum of 1-2 years depending on the amount of scholarship.
Each student scholarship recipient must meet all other eligibility criteria for employment with MCH. Each scholarship recipient must execute an agreement which specifically sets forth all such requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Admittance to the Western Kentucky University (WKU) Nursing program required.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
- Previous clinical or field-related experience preferred (can include job shadowing experience).
Application & Selection
Openings for Scholarship slots are evaluated on an ongoing basis, and any available slots are posted for application each semester. Applications are reviewed as they are submitted, and eligible candidates will be contacted to begin the interview process.
After reviewing your application, a Workforce Development Coordinator from Med Center Health will send qualifying applicants a form via email from DocuSign which will include essay questions and requests for the following document attachments (preferably in Word or PDF format):
- Resume
- Copy of most recent unofficial transcript
- Copy of the letter of acceptance to the healthcare degree program
- Letter(s) of recommendation, minimum of one (preferably from healthcare-related instructor or employer)
Selected recipients will execute an agreement which specifically sets forth all scholarship requirements. Med Center Health will notify College Heights Foundation of approved scholarship recipients and the scholarship funds will be directly placed into the recipient’s student account at WKU each semester. Students must attend classes and maintain a sufficient GPA to remain actively enrolled in their Nursing program.
As part of the agreement, students who accept scholarships must agree to work for Med Center Health for a minimum of 1-2 years (depending on the total amount of scholarship) following graduation and completion of all other eligibility criteria for employment with MCH.
