Description:
Education Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Must have working knowledge of office procedures, basic office equipment including computers. Experience in medical records is preferred.
Required Skills: Accuracy, precision and attention to detail are essential to job performance. Time management and productivity should be excellent. Must be able to exercise appropriate and effective judgment and initiative in performance of duties.
Physical Demands: Good physical and mental health is required. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and situations. Relative amount of physical activities related to technical assistance.
Supervises: None
Supervised By: Director of Medical Records
Performance Standards: Organization Wide Maintains a professional image. Makes a conscientious effort to help maintain a clean, safe and secure environment. Assumes responsibility for institutional requirements.
Customer Service Interpersonal skills Demonstrates pride in the organization. Strives to work well as a team member.
Medical Records Coordinator Assumes administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for medical record management. Completes and coordinates the follow up of delinquent medical records to include letters regarding delinquent charts. Completes statistical reports according to hospital requirements. Prepares transfer, observation, death and infant mortality reports as required. Responsible for organizing and conducting the Medical Record Committee and the Medical Record Review Committee meetings. Knowledge of Medical terminology ICD-10-CM and CPT Coding rules, Joint Commission Standards, CMS and State standards and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations Maintains Master Patient Index Preps and accounts for all discharges, ER and outpatient, etc. records. Analyzes charts according to established procedures. Maintains ongoing quality improvement monitor. Contributes to the effective management of the department.
