(CPLC), our Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) works to promote the health, well-being, and stability of refugees, unaccompanied children, and other eligible individuals and families through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services. Salary: $55,904 annually
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
You will lead and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive education to unaccompanied children (UC) in care. You will create a structured, inclusive classroom environment where students can build foundational academic skills, develop confidence, and experience personal growth.
You will develop, implement, and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse academic, linguistic, cultural, and developmental needs. You will teach foundational subjects including English, reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, using differentiated instruction, group activities, hands-on learning, and educational technology.
As the Lead Teacher, you will also serve as a leader and mentor to teaching staff and teacher aides, providing guidance, modeling effective teaching practices, conducting observations, and supporting professional development. You will collaborate with caseworkers, counselors, and other program staff to address students' academic needs and ensure educational services meet ORR standards and contractual requirements.

You are an educator, mentor, and leader who understands that effective teaching goes beyond the classroom. You are adaptable, culturally responsive, organized, and committed to helping students succeed despite different educational backgrounds and experiences.
You are comfortable working in a diverse and fast-paced environment and can balance classroom instruction, student needs, staff leadership, documentation, and compliance requirements. You bring strong classroom management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, caseworkers, counselors, and other program partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education /Background:Â Â Â
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, TESOL, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certification in ESL (English as a Second Language) or bilingual education is a plus.
- Must be certified to teach in the state of employment.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of teaching experience, with at least 1 year working with unaccompanied children.
- Experience developing and implementing curriculum for students with varied educational backgrounds.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in leadershipÂ
- Bilingual (english and spanish)
