Infusion Registered NurseThe RN in the Infusion Center provides care to all patients who need outpatient services including but not limited to IV infusions, blood transfusions, injections, dressing changes, and patients needing outpatient services that they are otherwise unable to receive in other settings.
The RN staff nurse will prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care and other services. Care is given in accordance with established standards and protocols, policies, and procedures and is consistent with applicable federal and state regulations and professional ethics.
Nursing care is accomplished through:
- The Nursing Process
- Performance of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures
- Completion of Medical Orders and
- Collaboration with other health team members and the patient, family, and/or significant others.
All RN staff nurses are responsible for a core set of competencies that can be applied in any nursing area and are oriented fully in areas where they are expected to function independently and float to areas throughout the hospital when the infusion center is closed.
The RN staff is expected to demonstrate authority, responsibility, and accountability for their individual nursing practice in addition to utilizing educational opportunities for professional growth. The RN staff nurse must be a well-rounded nurse, with the ability to care for a wide variety of patients and deliver the education needed for those patients, in a short amount of time.
Must perform other duties as requested or assigned. Is expected to work varying hours, holidays, and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- BSN preferred but not required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Current Kansas RN license or ability to obtain licensure, per Kansas State Board of Nursing regulations.
- BLS - Obtains RQI BLS certification within the appropriate quarter (approximately within 3 months of hire), and maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
- ALS- Obtains RQI ALS certification within the appropriate quarter (approximately within 6 months of hire), and maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
- NRP-Certification preferred, but not required.
- PALS or ENPC-PALS RQI or ENPC Certification preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of experience as an RN is preferred, but not required.
- Computer experience preferred or ability to learn computer operation.
