Job Summary
Spartan Industrial and Marine, a division of Singer Industrial, is seeking a full-time Metal Hose Fitter/Fabricators to join our team. This position is responsible for fitting, assembling, and TIG welding stainless steel flexible metal hose assemblies according to customer specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience performing precision TIG welding on thin-gauge stainless steel and is comfortable assembling hose, braid, collars, fittings, and end connections. This role requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to producing safe, accurate, and high-quality metal hose assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit, assemble, and fabricate stainless steel flexible metal hose assemblies.
- Perform precision TIG welding on thin-wall stainless steel hose components.
- Weld stainless steel hose, braid collars, fittings, adapters, flanges, and end connections.
- Measure, cut, prepare, and position components prior to welding and assembly.
- Build metal hose assemblies according to customer specifications, drawings, work orders, and fabrication instructions.
- Interpret technical drawings, dimensions, specifications, and welding symbols.
- Verify hose lengths, fitting orientation, and component placement before completing assemblies.
- Inspect completed welds and assemblies for workmanship, accuracy, and visible defects.
- Perform pressure testing, leak testing, or other quality checks when required.
- Identify and report damaged materials, defective components, or quality concerns.
- Maintain welding machines, fabrication tools, and testing equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication area.
- Complete production documentation accurately and maintain material traceability when required.
- Meet established production schedules, quality expectations, and customer deadlines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two or more years of TIG welding experience, preferably involving thin-gauge stainless steel.
- Ability to fit and assemble components accurately before welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and welding symbols.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail.
- Ability to use calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Knowledge of welding practices, equipment setup, and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience fabricating or welding stainless steel flexible metal hose assemblies.
- AWS welding certification.
- Experience welding stainless steel fittings, flanges, adapters, or thin-wall tubing.
- Familiarity with pressure testing and leak-testing procedures.
- Experience working from custom fabrication orders or customer-specific requirements.
- Experience in an industrial fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Orbital welding experience is a plus.
Work Environment
- Industrial fabrication and production environment.
- Regular exposure to welding fumes, heat, sparks, bright light, noise, and moving equipment.
- Required use of welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, hearing protection, and other designated PPE.
- Work may involve stainless steel components, fabrication equipment, compressed gases, and pressure-testing equipment.
- Overtime may be required based on production schedules and customer demand.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and work at a fabrication station for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Good vision, with correction permitted, for detailed fitting, welding, and inspection work.
- Steady hand control and fine motor skills required for precision TIG welding.
- Ability to safely operate welding, cutting, measuring, and material-handling equipment.
