We're looking for an experienced In-house General Counsel to lead our Legal and Governance function. Reporting to the Executive Director, you'll be a trusted advisor to the Executive Team, helping guide strategic decisions while ensuring our legal, governance and commercial frameworks support sustainable growth.

You'll play a key role in partnering with leaders across the business to navigate complexity, manage risk and enable confident decision-making as we continue to grow one of Australia's leading Build to Rent platforms.

Whatyou’lldo:

Providestrategic legal advice across corporate, commercial, property,developmentand operational matters

LeadApt'slegal and governance function, ensuring legal strategy supports business growth and long-term objectives

Oversee company secretarial responsibilities, boardgovernanceand statutory compliance

Lead the review, negotiation and management of commercial contracts, development agreements,leasesand transaction documentation

Support acquisitions, developments, investmenttransactionsand financing activities from a legal and governance perspective

Identify,assessand manage legal and commercial risk, providing practical, commercially focused solutions

Partner withExecutive, Development, Investment, Operations and Finance teams to support strategic decision-making

Manage external legal advisers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective legal services

Strengthen governance frameworks, policies and processes that support a growing business

Help shape a culture of accountability,integrityand informed decision-making across the organisation

Whatwe’relooking for:

Qualified Australian legal practitioner with a current practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one)

Extensive post-admission experience within a leading law firm and/or in-house legal environment

Strong experience across corporate, commercial,propertyand governance law

Demonstrated experience supporting complex property, development,investmentor infrastructure transactions

Strong understanding of corporate governance, company secretarialresponsibilitiesand regulatory compliance

Commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal risk and business outcomes

Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation

A practical, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to provide clear, pragmatic advice

Experience working withexecutive leadership teams and boards highly regarded

Previous Company Secretary experience or exposure to board governance will be highly regarded
