JOB SUMMARY
This position is co-responsible, with the buyer, for inventorying, ordering, receiving, verifying, reconciling, and pricing all pharmaceuticals and parenteral solutions used in the hospital. This position has the responsibility of maintaining adequate, yet not excessive, stock levels to satisfy patient needs, while assuring the hospital receives its fair return on its drug therapy investment. Responsibilities also include staffing as a pharmacy technician. Contract management and negotiation are utilized to meet these goals. This position will report to the Pharmacy Director or other pharmacy leadership.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals and direction of the Performance Improvement / Patient Safety Plan at Blessing Hospital.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/Experience:
REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Computer skills are required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education or Experience as a Buyer, Inventory control and contract management with a minimum of 3 years experience.

Capacity to operate the pharmacy computer systems necessary.
PREFERRED:
-
Completion of Pharmacy Technician Training Course preferred.

Prior training and experience in pharmacy, particularly hospital pharmacy, is highly preferred.

Excellent typing skills preferred.
