Job Description/Summary
The Peer Recovery Support Specialist works with DCPP-involved adults with substance use disorders in Hunterdon County. Client participation in this program is voluntary. Peers work with client on client identified recovery goals and connecting to local resources such as mutual support meetings, social services and food/diaper banks. Peers function as sober advocates for client and must have at least two (2) years of continuous sobriety.
Essential Job Function
- Maintain regular contact with client
- Verbal conferences with DCPP and other involved providers
- Maintain required documentation of client progress
- Meet with clients in the community and provide transport when appropriate
- Assists in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery
- Enhances identification and participation in the recovery community

Qualifications
- At least 2 continuous years of sustained recovery
- CPRS preferred
- Working knowledge of substance use disorders and local recovery resources
- High school diploma or equivalency, Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Required Training:
The Department of Children and Families approved Peer Recovery Support Service training including Ethics and Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
Additional trainings may include: Domestic Violence (DV), Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, Psychological First Aid and all agency specific trainings.
