INFORMATION SYSTEM SR OPERATOR
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Coordinates, operates, monitors, and maintains company computer processes running on various platforms. Executes and monitors programs that require operator intervention. Prepares and distributes computer generated output. Provide assistance and support to ensure system availability to all users. Recognizes, responds to, and resolves system errors in a timely manner and reports unresolved errors to supervisor. Initiates calls to software or hardware service personnel when necessary. Provides support for electronic transfers and processes. Maintains and monitors help desk tracking system.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Apply audit controls to verify successful completion of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly processes. Maintains daily operating schedule to assure optimum utilization of computing resources and time. Performs data entry duties as required to maintain scheduled operations.
- Develops and updates operational documentation. Gathers, documents and implements external and internal scheduling requirements, maintains accurate logs of all significant daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly operational activities. Maintains and follows operations schedule.
- Recognizes problems and possible action to be taken. Repairs, replaces or places service call on hardware and software problems. Notifies appropriate personnel when problems encountered and communicates accurate status. Works with On Call person for all problems requiring intervention.
- Processes and validates all incoming and outgoing electronic media in a consistent and timely manner. Returns electronic media to clients on a timely basis.
- Assist with month-end closing duties as assigned.
- Prepares, sorts, labels and distributes external and internal reports in a timely fashion. Posts control totals to client profile sheets. Provides audit and balancing functions to meet report accuracy and quality expectations. (proper for alignment, proper side of form printed, consistent print quality, clarity and tone of print on checks, MICR characters printing on checks, etc.)
- Maintain sufficient stock levels of data processing supplies in order to meet processing demands.
- Performs maintenance on computer equipment and peripherals to ensure equipment is kept in an operational state meeting current demands. Initiates replacement of defective units when necessary.
- Keeps the Computer Room and other associated operational areas in an orderly state. Maintains environmental conditions throughout the department space.
- Observe procedures for security of computer equipment, supplies, data files, and computer facility.
- Assist with the training of new staff and temporary staff.
- Responds to user problems and handles telephone inquires with courtesy, accuracy and helpfulness. Dresses and acts in a professional manner. Uses good grammar in written work and when speaking. Communicates ideas effectively to technical personnel and end-user personnel.
- Performs all duties in an independent manner with little requirement for direct supervision. Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned. Demonstrates a desire to learn more and actively pursues that desire. Suggests ideas on improving operations through better use of existing or newer technologies.
- Is flexible in adjusting hours to meet processing needs. Willing to work for others when needed. Works evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Performs various other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Associates Degree, Two years experience in computer operations, or demonstrated ability to perform at a high competency level as a computer operator.
- Has working knowledge of personal computers.
- Must work well with others.
- Must operate assigned equipment.
- Must make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
- Must communicate effectively.
- Must work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to touch type and effectively use a personal computer
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hours of operation, shifts as assigned. Occasional overtime, on-call, off-shifts (evenings and/or weekends) scheduled as necessary.
- Lunch and break periods must be coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate office staffing during departmental operating hours.
- Sitting/standing/moving about intermittently during working hours.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
