About the role
The Solutions Architect provides technical leadership and architectural design expertise to support federal IT programs. This role is responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and mission-aligned technology solutions that integrate business, operational, and IT objectives. The Solutions Architect will partner with stakeholders, program managers, and technical teams to ensure system designs meet federal standards, agency requirements, and long-term modernization strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of enterprise-level technical solutions across applications, systems, and infrastructure.
- Translate business and mission needs into technical architectures, ensuring alignment with federal IT strategy, security, and compliance requirements.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement modern technologies including cloud platforms, COTS/GOTS solutions, and open-source tools.
- Create architectural diagrams, design specifications, andimplementationroadmaps.
- Guidefull lifecycle solution delivery, including requirements analysis, system design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
- Provide hands-on support in migrating legacy applications to cloud or hybrid environments.
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity, accessibility (Section 508), and records management requirements.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams in Agile/DevSecOpsenvironments.
- Conduct trade-off analyses, proof-of-concepts, and technology assessments to support decision-making.
- Present architecture strategies and technical recommendations to senior federal leadership and oversight bodies.
- Mentor technical teams and provide best practices for system integration, performance optimization, and scalability.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in IT architecture, systems engineering, or solution design.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale solutions, preferably in the federal sector.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid architecture models.
- Familiarity with modern development frameworks, APIs, microservices, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of federal IT policies, cybersecurity requirements (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP), and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working in Agile andDevSecOpsdelivery environments.
- Strong communicationskills withabilityto present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF, orSAFeArchitect.
- Experience with federal IT modernization, cloud migration, and COTS integration projects.
- Background in full stack development (Java, Spring, React, TypeScript, etc.) to guide implementation teams.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, Salesforce, or other enterprise platforms used in federal environments.
- Prior experience supporting federal programs requiring high availability, security, and scalability.
