Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time night shift Registered Nurse position for our 5SE Rehab Unit at Beacon Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.
5SE Rehab Unit Summary
-
A day on a rehab unit is structured, engaging, and especially meaningful for a new nursing student. The shift begins with report, where you learn each patient’s recovery goals—improving mobility, managing medications, or preparing to return home. Throughout the day, you complete assessments, administer medications, provide wound care, and support patients as they relearn everyday skills.
-
Because patients stay longer in rehab, you have time to truly get to know them—and their families. You answer questions, offer reassurance, and become a familiar, trusted presence during a vulnerable time. Building these relationships allows you to connect with patients on a deeper level and care for them with both skill and heart.
-
Rehab nursing is highly team-based, involving close collaboration with physical and occupational therapists, physicians, and case managers. It’s an ideal setting to grow confidence, develop strong clinical skills, and witness the powerful impact of compassionate nursing as patients and families move forward together.
-
Patient population is strokes, neuro, amputations, orthopedic surgeries, cardiac surgeries, and oncology. We serve from ages 15 and up.
