O,R, Surgical technician
The Surgical Technician functions as an integral member of the surgical team and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures. The Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing the operating room, ensuring that equipment functions properly, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating surgical team needs, and ensuring efficient case flow. The Surgical Technician also ensures that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The Surgical Technician possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic techniques. The Surgical Technician combines the knowledge of human anatomy, operative procedures, surgical instrumentation, and other technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
This position includes participation in an on-call rotation to support urgent/emergent surgical cases and other organizational needs. Surgical Technicians will be cross-trained to the Central Sterile Department and will perform other duties assigned if organizational needs arise.
Education:
Required : High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program or Surgical Tech Program
Licensure:
None
Certifications:
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare workers within 3 months of hire.
Experience/Qualifications:
Required: 6 months of Central Sterile/Sterile Processing Experience
Age Requirement
Required: 19 years of age or older
Post-offer/pre-employment background check and drug screen are required.
