JOB SUMMARY
Sheridan Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our Medical Imaging team. In this role, you will perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients across the lifespan. Our sonographers work independently while collaborating closely with radiologists, providers, and clinical staff to deliver exceptional patient care and high-quality imaging services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Responsible for safe handling of equipment and images.
- Selects appropriate equipment to use for the procedure.
- Determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
- Able to assess patient's pain by interfering with imaging procedure — makes appropriate physician/nurse contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Makes appropriate decisions requiring special equipment, procedures and U/S guided procedures.
- Selects proper protocols for a variety of examinations for patient safety and reduced exposure.
- Sends images to the PACS system and completes study within the EMR system.
- Practices good medical and surgical aseptic techniques.
- Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
- Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family.
- Completes all work before clocking out and leaving. This includes checking with nurses’ stations.
- Knowledgeable of fire and safety regulations.
- Has knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of the radiology department and other departments.
- Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS — Education / Experience / License and Certifications
- Graduation from an Allied Health Program or an approved Ultrasound Program.
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), preferred.
- A license by the State of Wyoming is not required for an Ultrasound.
- BLS certification required.
- Central Registry, required.
- Works independently. Needs no mentoring.
- 1 year of Ultrasound experience.
Additional Skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
- Knowledge of general anatomy and physiology.
Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products. Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
