Technical Writer - Remote
OM Group, Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer to support our federal customer by developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality technical documentation for a mission-critical Microsoft Power Platform solution. This role is responsible for creating user guides, process documentation, training support materials, and technical references that support system sustainment, knowledge transfer, user adoption, and operational success. The successful candidate will work closely with technical and program teams to transform complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.
Responsibilities
- Author, maintain, update, and deliver technical documentation for a federal PowerApps application and Power Pages web portal
- Develop user guides, process documentation, configuration documentation, reference materials, and other supporting documentation
- Ensure documentation is accurate, organized, grammatically correct, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support knowledge transfer efforts by documenting application functionality, workflows, maintenance procedures, updates, and configuration details
- Collaborate with Power Platform Developers, Cybersecurity personnel, and Project Managers to capture technical changes and convert them into clear written deliverables
- Update documentation to reflect approved enhancements, modifications, and changes to applications and supporting systems
- Support the development and maintenance of training materials and documentation used for government training and knowledge transfer activities
- Support delivery of training materials and assist with documentation used in government training sessions, as requested
- Ensure all deliverables comply with contract requirements, customer expectations, and government direction
- Help ensure that custom code, scripts, and technical processes are documented with appropriate comments and explanations aligned with industry standards and best practices, when applicable
- Support project reporting and coordination activities through written summaries, documentation status updates, and related materials
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure documentation remains current and complete
- Participate in proposal support efforts and other areas as needed
Qualifications
- Three (3+) years experience in technical writing
- Bachelor’s Degree, or additional four years working experience
- Experience writing and maintaining technical user guides, and process documentation for software systems or business applications
- Ability to translate technical concepts into language suitable for non-technical users
- Strong editing, proofreading, grammar, and document organization skills
- Experience coordinating with technical staff to gather information and convert it into clear written deliverables
- Ability to manage multiple document updates and version-controlled content in a structured environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience documenting Microsoft Power Apps, Power Pages, Microsoft Dataverse, or related Microsoft business applications preferred
- Experience supporting government contracts or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with documenting systems subject to security, governance, and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting knowledge transfer, training support, and end-user adoption materials
- Experience preparing documentation in Microsoft Word and related Microsoft Office tools
- Flexibility, comfort with assisting other areas as needed
- Experience supporting govcon business development or proposal support departments a plus
- Sufficient background investigation or security clearance to access required federal environments
- Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, and market conditions, with an expected range of $80,000 and $90,000
