SUMMARY: The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that purchased materials, components, and services supplied to the organization meet established quality, regulatory, and environmental requirements. This role works closely with suppliers, quality manufacturing, engineering, and procurement teams to drive continuous improvement, reduce supplier-related risks, and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following; other duties will be assigned in a progressive manner.
•Qualify, evaluate, on-board and approve suppliers to ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
•Conduct supplier audits and assessments in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and company procedures.
•Monitor supplier performance through quality metrics, scorecards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
•Lead investigations of supplier nonconformances and coordinate containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
•Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.
•Support new product introductions by validating supplier processes, capabilities, and quality controls.
•Collaborate with Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to resolve supplier quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
•Ensure supplier compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, environmental, and company requirements.
•Maintain supplier quality records, audit reports, corrective action documentation, and performance metrics while supporting internal and external audits.
•Manage non-conforming materials and drive timely resolution with suppliers
•Assist Quality Manager / Quality Director in establishing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems.
•Participate as a team member in program management activities to ensure successful new product launches, including supplier approvals, process readiness, and PPAP approvals.
•Support the Quality Inspectors, production operations, and suppliers.
•Conduct supplier and process audits as needed.
•Maintain quality manuals and procedures.
•Conduct final inspections when required.
•Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective action and preventative actions.
•Communicate with suppliers and customers in relation to quality system and product quality activities, as directed by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct reports.
QUALITY RESPONSIBILITIES: In daily work, a team member is responsible for maintaining or exceeding the degree of excellence requested by the internal and external customers of this department. This includes following established policies, following ISO 9001 & 14001 policies, business practices, and work instructions, using problem-solving techniques to solve root causes of problems, and viewing quality as customer satisfaction. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in Supplier Quality Engineering; degree, training, and / or equivalent experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current certification or willingness to achieve Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) within 18 months of employment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members of an organization.
