The RoleYou are the first person in after the sales call. Your job is to figure out whether we should build, buy, or integrate, and whether a partner platform is a better fit than a Cadre block. You work from transcripts, client materials, and your own hands-on evaluation of the AI tooling landscape to get oriented fast and produce analysis that holds up in a client meeting.Speed matters. A slow research phase delays the retainer. Your output goes directly into the scope Sales Engineering writes, so it needs to be clean enough to use without reformatting.
What You'll DoBuy vs. Build vs. Integrate- Review discovery transcripts and client materials to identify which blocks apply to the engagement.
- Assess each block as build, buy, or integrate; document reasoning with evidence, not preference.
- Evaluate available vendors, platforms, and managed offerings against Cadre's catalog and Product Engineering's roadmap.
- Tinker with platforms and run technical demos yourself; your buy analysis must be grounded in hands-on evaluation, not just vendor documentation.
- Stay current on the AI tooling landscape; you are expected to know what changed last month.
- Bring evaluated options back to Sales Engineering and Product Engineering with working examples where possible.
Research Handoff- Package findings in a format Sales Engineering can use directly; no reformatting required.
- Flag open questions explicitly so they are resolved before the scope is written, not after.
- Surface additional blocks that are relevant but not yet discussed; more coverage means larger retainers.
- Feed signal to Product Engineering on which blocks Cadre should build next based on what you keep seeing in the market.
What You Need to Succeed- 1-3 years in research, technical analysis, or applied AI work; AI or enterprise software context is a strong advantage.
- Working knowledge of LLMs, automation platforms, voice AI, and integration layers.
- Hands-on technical ability; you can spin up platforms, build a working demo, and stress-test vendor claims rather than relying on decks. Buy vs. build calls only hold up if you have actually used the thing.
- Ability to read a messy call transcript and extract a clean, actionable picture of what the client actually needs.
- Strong written output; your research feeds directly into client-facing work and needs to be precise.
- Comfortable making a recommendation under uncertainty; you do not need perfect data to take a position.
- Fast. Time from discovery call to research handoff is a key metric this role owns.
- Comfortable evaluating vendors and managed offerings on their merits; you can spot when a partner platform is genuinely better than building.

CompensationThe base pay range for this role is Col$3,000 – Col$4,000 per month.
