Position Overview
The School Readiness and Family Resource Coordinator is responsible for managing the School Readiness Program, family engagement programs, providing direct support to families, conducting home visits, and overseeing the operations of the Family Resource Center. This role focuses on promoting family stability, child well-being, and academic success by connecting families with essential resources, fostering strong relationships, and creating opportunities for family education and community engagement.
Qualifications
● Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social work, child development, or related field
Experience
● One year experience working with families
● Experience in community organizing/program management
Special Knowledge/Skills
● Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance
● Demonstrate planning, organizational and time management skills
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and work well independently and on a team
● Demonstrate ability to work with the community and with parents in a variety of settings
● Data management skills (familiar working with spreadsheets/documents/forms etc.)
Key Responsibilities:
Family Engagement and Education
● Lead parenting workshops, group meetings, and conduct home visits using the Nurturing Parenting curriculum.
● Organize and implement developmental and social-emotional screenings for children.
● Establish programs that engage parents and caregivers in their child’s development and academic success.
● Work closely with families to increase understanding of school systems and policies and develop a strong parent-school partnership.
Family Resource Management
● Assist families in navigating and accessing services that support stability and child development.
● Maintain a working knowledge of wraparound services, helping families connect to health care, housing support, job training, and other services.
● Oversee the Transformation Waco Family Resource Center, ensuring it is welcoming and fully stocked with basic needs and supplies, such as diapers, baby wipes, baby formula, and clothing, etc.
● Create relationships with community partner donors and manage the distribution of resources to families in need.
● Collaborate with community agencies and service providers to expand resource offerings and provide insights concerning families needs and preferences.
Program Administration and Data Tracking
● Actively monitor national Family Resource Center initiatives and news, leveraging insights from organizations like the National Family Support Network to enhance service delivery.
● Solicit family feedback concerning service usage and outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and interventions.
● Prepare reports and assessments on family engagement and resource utilization to inform program improvements and stakeholder communication.
● Use data to monitor family participation and identify areas for improvement in engagement strategies and determination of best practices.
● Participate in professional development in order to remain informed concerning evidence based research regarding family engagement, child development, and resource management
● Supervise Family Educator and Child Care and Family Support assistants
Job Type
● Full time with availability to work some evenings as needed.
Compensation details: 50000-60000 Hourly Wage
