Imaging Assistant-RWMC

Summary: Under the direction of the Lead Technologist, the Imaging Assistant is responsible for assisting in Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Departments. The Imaging Assistant will support technologist with the performance of exams such as moving patient to exam table, positioning of patient, retrieving films and supplies, transporting of patient when necessary, obtaining patient information and screening of patient. Position involves interaction with various physician s offices and nursing floors and order entry into RIS (Radiology Information System). The Imaging Assistant must show clinical competence in direct patient care during DI procedures.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Licensure: CPR Certification Required. CNA license preferred.

Experience: Computer experience, medical terminology.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow complicated, diversified instructions.

Patient screening for contrast reactions, allergies, pacemakers, or metal implants

Confirm with ordering physician or nursing floors that proper screening or lab forms have been completed

Coordinate patient scheduling for in-patient exams.

Assist with technical and quality control at beginning and end of shift.

Review patient s record prior to and after the completed exam to ensure all required data is available for image interpretation.

Transport patients, as needed, to nursing floors and other departments within the hospital

Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.

Patient moving assistance as necessary.

Perform other related duties as required.

Maintain information confidential (HIPAA)

Demonstrated customer service skills

Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers

Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines

Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
