POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is crucial to the day-to-day functioning of the Indiana Historical Society; assuring timely, courteous and helpful service of the highest quality is afforded to all visitors at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Act as a source of information for visitors and callers.
- Sell admission tickets; manage transactions; up-sell visitors to IHS membership program when applicable.
- Process reservations for individuals and groups for general admission, programs, and events.
- Assist with daily reporting within the department.
- Assist with the processing and coordination of group arrivals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Ability to exercise excellent customer service, teamwork, and highly diverse public service skills.
- Working knowledge, or willingness to learn, basic office equipment and computer applications.
- Ability to provide information in a variety of formats in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of, willingness to learn, point of sale procedures
- Ability to work an adjusted work schedule during typical business hours and Saturdays. Hours will extend during holidays and special events to include evenings and Sundays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Movement – Stooping, Bending, Kneeling, and Crouching In order to reach & pick up items.
Standing – Ability to stand for extended periods of time during high volume days.
Strength – Ability to periodically lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds.
Wrist & Visual Stamina – Ability to type and focus on a computer screen for prolonged periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1 year customer service-related experience.
PAY & BENEFITS
Pay is $14.25/hour

SCHEDULE
The Indiana Historical Society is open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday with additional hours for holidays and special events. Visitor Services associates are typically onsite by 8:30am, weekends and holidays will vary. Position is typically 2 shifts or approximately 15 to 20 hours per week and not more than 29 hours per week. There are occasional and seasonal opportunities for additional hours based upon needs of the organization.
Compensation details: 14.25-14.25 Hourly Wage
