POSITION SUMMARY

The Cancer Center Adjunct Educator is an EAMC bedside nurse who works on a medical/surgical unit and continues in this primary role to maintain current, clinical expertise. While in the Adjunct Educator role, works four (4) hours per week or sixteen (16) hours per month and reports to the Director of Education Services. Meets monthly with Education Director to coordinate schedule and training needs. Rounds in department weekly to provide training on new initiatives, re-education or follow- up education, and/or product/equipment training; identify training needs; and perform assessment of knowledge application at the department level. Serves as a mentor to Nurse Residents, early adopters/superusers for projects/initiatives, subject matter experts for training materials, programs and/or committees, competency validators, and education representative for Unit Council. Maintains frequent communication with staff on educational opportunities and participates in Education Department bi-annual staff training days to develop and maintain educator skills. Serves as a role model for bedside staff.
