About the Role
SIRIS is seeking a Construction Manager (Mechanical) to support a VA Medical Center project in Fayetteville, NC.
This role supports complex federal healthcare construction projects with a focus on mechanical systems, HVAC infrastructure, and facility upgrades, where technical quality, cost control, schedule performance, and compliance are critical. You will serve in an Owner’s Representative capacity, working closely with the Program Manager, VA client staff, and project stakeholders from design through construction and closeout.
This is a high-impact role supporting mission-critical infrastructure within an active healthcare environment.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as Owner’s Representative supporting projects from design through construction and closeout
- Oversee project execution with responsibility for technical quality, cost, and schedule performance
- Analyze and monitor project financial data, budget performance, and cost trends
- Review construction schedules and support progress and performance evaluations
- Participate in progress meetings and assist with issue identification and resolution
- Review testing, inspection, and quality assurance documentation for compliance
- Support claims administration, change management, and contract modifications
- Review contractor documentation and reported progress for alignment with construction documents and approved schedules
- Prepare analytical reports, correspondence, and program status updates
- Maintain tracking tools and reporting systems supporting program oversight
- Act as liaison between client stakeholders, design teams, contractors, and facility engineering staff
Who Will Succeed in This Role
- Experience supporting complex construction projects in healthcare, federal, or institutional environments is highly valued
- Strong background in mechanical systems, HVAC infrastructure, or building systems engineering is preferred
- Comfortable managing cost, schedule, and compliance across multidisciplinary teams
- Able to operate independently while collaborating with program leadership, clients, and contractors
- Strong organizational and analytical mindset
- Effective communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy and compliance
- Demonstrates accountability, leadership, and sound judgment
Qualifications
- Required
- 6+ years of experience in construction management, construction administration, or a related field
- Experience supporting facility construction, infrastructure, or healthcare projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical specifications
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost management, and project delivery
- OSHA 30 certification is required for this role and must be maintained throughout employment
- Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
- Experience supporting federal or VA construction projects (VA, DoD, GSA, etc.)
- Experience working in regulated environments (federal, healthcare, institutional)
- Professional certifications such as CCM, PMP, or equivalent
- Experience with design-build and design-bid-build delivery methods
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
- 15+ years of directly related experience may substitute for degree
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with construction practices, quality assurance, scheduling, cost management, and change management
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in administrative, financial, and compliance matters
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
Work Environment
- Full-time onsite role at an active construction site and healthcare facility
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment
