Job Overview - $8 + (tips after a 2 week training period)
We are seeking a friendly and efficient *Barista* to join our vibrant coffee team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coffee and customer service, with a focus on creating a welcoming environment for all guests. This role involves preparing and serving high-quality beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an exceptional experience for every customer. Previous barista experience and familiarity with food safety standards are preferred, but we are happy to train the right candidate.
Duties
Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and other menu items efficiently and accurately.
Operate POS systems to process transactions smoothly.
Manage cash handling, including cash register operations and balancing at the end of shifts.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, taking orders, and addressing inquiries professionally.
Maintain cleanliness of the café environment, including food preparation areas, and equipment sanitation in compliance with food safety standards.
Assist in preparation tasks such as assembling food items.
Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service without compromising quality.
Upsell products to increase sales while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Follow all food handling procedures and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
Train to eventually "open" and possibly close out duties
Weekends are mandatory if scheduled
Any time off must be approved well in advance. The summer season is our busy season so time off other than scheduled days are difficult.
Qualifications
Previous *barista experience* or *coffee experience* is highly desirable.
Familiarity with POS systems.
Strong *customer service* skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Excellent *time management* skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during peak hours.
Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and making accurate change.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Knowledge of *food safety*, *food handling*, and *food preparation* procedures is preferred.
