Director of Adult Clinical Services Overview
The Director of Adult Clinical Services, in conjunction with the Senior Director of Clinical Services and Senior Director of Adult Services, will assist in the design, development and delivery of all clinical services for Melmark’s adult population. This position will coordinate all clinical training for staff (with the assistance from the Professional Development and Clinical Training Department) and ensure the training design is consistent with the Melmark Model of Program Development and Clinical Treatment.
This position must have senior level clinical skills, successful supervisory skills, the ability to attend to numerous details and understand multiple regulatory standards as they relate to the design and delivery of clinical systems. This position will require flexible hours to assist in supporting the development of clinical programming for adults attending day and residential services on the Melmark campus and in the community.

- Starting Salary: $100,000-$110,000 (based on years of experience)
Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Clinical Psychology or a closely related field.
- Certification as a BCBA required
- 5-10 years of clinical experience in applied behavioral settings. 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Experience in an intensive residential setting serving individuals with behavior challenges strongly preferred.
- Advanced skills in applied behavior analysis and evidence based treatments. Significant experience and training in functional behavior assessment, including designing and conducting analog functional analyses, preference assessments, and the application of behavior analytic interventions for individuals with serious and persistent challenging behavior.
Director of Adult Clinical Services Responsibilities
- Implements the Melmark Model of Program Development and Clinical Treatment across all adult services.
- Actively remains proficient in professional practice and bringing research to practice within the applied setting and insures treatment efficacy within adult services by recommending scientifically validated most effective treatment procedures.
- Participates in bi-weekly clinical reviews with the Adult Behavior Analysts and Adult Program Directors.
- Directs the work of the Behavior Analysts/Behavior Specialists and ensures that the Behavior Support Plans are clinically sound, thorough, clear and concrete and demonstrate the least restrictive most effective treatment.
- Ensures that the results of behavioral assessments (e.g., functional behavior assessments, functional analysis, preference assessments) functionally match the interventions highlighted in the Behavior Support Plans.
- Ensures the consistent implementation of adult Behavior Support Plans by conducting ongoing observation and clinical feedback tools.
- Meets individual billing requirements and oversees billable services for all Adult Behavior Analysts and Behavior Specialists in ensuring the highest level of utilization for all behavior units and timely submission of all documentation required for billing
- Pro-actively identifies individuals with the most significant need of clinical/behavioral intervention and oversees the development of sound and effective plans and interventions.
- Provides consultative services for clinical or programming needs upon request from the Adult Services Leadership team.
- Oversees all restrictive programming within Adult Services, including preparation of required documents (including obtaining all consents) and the presentation of programming for the Restrictive Procedure Committee and Human Right Committee.
- Designs, develops and assists in the delivery of all clinical training for Program Managers.
- Trains staff on BSP processes, including implementation strategies in accordance with Behavior Support Plans.
- Assures compliance with all regulatory/licensing agencies as they relate to clinical services across all adult program regulations (6400, 2380, ICF) and cooperates with officials of such agencies during applicable survey processes.
- Oversee and lead the clinical presentation of data and programming at adult medication review meetings.
- Oversee the fidelity of clinical presentation of adult programming at RPT/HRT meetings.
- Oversees ODP-Performance Base Contracting requirements for all Adult Behavior Analysts and Behavior Specialists in ensuring at least 70% of face-to-face behavioral services for 6400 residential programs.
