Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures, the Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients on his/her shift. RN responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care using age specific criteria. Judgments are made based upon scientific knowledge and clinical skills. The RN also assists in planning, directing and teaching non-RN staff such as LPN/PCT and Unit Secretaries. Must demonstrate -flexibility with work schedule changes. On-call response time within forty-five (45) minutes required.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted RN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS is required or must obtain within orientation period. Must successfully complete Basic/Intermediate Cardiac class at first offering available. TCAR and or Inpatient Trauma Care Course (INTCC) certification will be required upon hire or at first offering.
Experience: Critical Care experience (3-5 years) required. Open Heart Recovery experience preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents, including physicians, patients and associates. Be cooperative and collaborative, and have the ability to work efficiently while in stressful situations. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be enthusiastic for learning critical care.
