Graduation from High school with some advanced technical training.

Experience

Requires on-the-job training to become familiar with department procedures. Prefer health related field experience and/or allied health sciences with demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology, alphanumeric filing, knowledge of computers, copiers, and fax machines. Good communication skills. Experience with EMR preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
-
The Transportation Coordinator Performs a wide range of duties including departmental correspondence, answers phone and schedules transportation for patient flow. Transportation Coordinator receives and coordinates phone, ground and air communications involving medical transports into and out of the medical center. Position is responsible for efficient scheduling of discharge patient’s routes and proper use of external transport resources. They also coordinate and/or communicate estimated time of arrival on all accepted direct admits. Those duties include notifying physicians and other staff of the care team. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times. Works with EMR system, Excel Participant Scheduler, and various other sources regarding data entry, chart retrieval, chart tracking, chart faxing, etc. Will be responsible for accuracy and correctness of records, expediting chart completion. Will collect and maintain other data necessary to maintain operations and accurate reporting to both internal and external sources. Performs other administrative duties as requested.
