Position Overview
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages while delivering exceptional service to guests in the hotel's bar, lounge, restaurant, or banquet areas. This role ensures accurate drink preparation, responsible alcohol service, and a welcoming guest experience, contributing to a polished and professional atmosphere in a full-service hotel environment.
What You'll Do
Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes, standards, and guest preferences.
- Provide beverage service in bar, lounge, restaurant, banquet bars, or pool areas as assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of cocktail recipes, wine lists, beer selections, and seasonal offerings.
- Engage guests with friendly, knowledgeable, and professional service.
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming, enjoyable environment.
- Anticipate guest needs, offer recommendations, and upsell premium products.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Build rapport with guests to encourage repeat business and enhance overall satisfaction.
Bar Organization & Stocking
- Stock bar refrigerators, liquor shelves, glassware, garnishes, mixers, and bar tools.
- Prepare garnishes such as lemons, limes, cherries, and specialty ingredients daily.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar areas, workstations, and equipment.
- Ensure bars remain fully stocked during service through coordination with barbacks.
Cash Handling & POS Operations
- Accurately process guest payments including cash, credit cards, room charges, and vouchers.
- Maintain correct cash drawer balances and follow hotel cash-handling policies.
- Enter orders accurately into the POS system and manage tabs efficiently.
Safety, Compliance & Responsible Alcohol Service
- Follow state laws and hotel policies related to alcohol service and guest identification checks.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary bar following health department regulations.
- Ensure safe handling of glassware, equipment, and beverage products.
- Report spills, hazards, or maintenance issues immediately.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with servers, barbacks, and other staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Communicate with Culinary and Food & Beverage teams regarding product levels or guest special requests.
- Support banquet bar operations when assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned to support bar and hotel operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous bartending or beverage service experience preferred.
- Full-service hotel or high-volume bar experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cocktail preparation, wine service, and bar operations preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, mixology basics, and drink presentation.
- Excellent guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong cash-handling and POS skills with high accuracy.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift or carry beverage cases, kegs, or bar supplies.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, composure, and hospitality under pressure.

Licenses or Certificates:
- Food Safe Serve/Texas Food Handlers Certification
